Philip Treacy, die Londense hoedenmaker, gaat een make-upcollectie voor MAC maken (net als Nasty Gal trouwens, en Giambattista Valli, én Prabal Gurung).
Goed, ter zake.
Termen waarmee-ie het kleurenpalet omschrijft: metallic, kleurenexplosie en ‘slightly Gothic’.
Producten die in de collectie zitten: twee poeders, drie lippenstiften, twee potjes oogschaduw, drie eyeliners en een mascara.
Datum van verschijnen: april 2015.
Goed om te weten: het gaat niet om 'show' make-up, maar om make-up die je features goed laten uitkomen, en da’s nooit mis. WWD meldt: ‘Treacy said his collection with MAC isn’t about the “dramatic” but, rather, about colors that make “the features look good — it’s about beauty and elegance,” he said.’
Dan horen we je nu denken: hoedenmaker, make-up, waar zit de link? Dachten wij ook, maar Treacy weet aan WWD het een en ander heel helder uit te leggen. ‘Makeup…enhances the features. Which is what hats are about. There’s a transformative aspect to makeup that is similar to wearing hats or clothes.’ Tja, klinkt verdomd logisch. Hij vervolgt: ‘We’re all in the same business: MAC makes images with makeup, I make images with hats, and we both live in a world of fashion imagery. I draw, so, to me, makeup is a tool for the face that can change your life, change your day.’
