Jep, je leest het goed. Op het web gaat een lippenbalsem viral, maar eigenlijk is het helemaal geen lippenbalsem maar een tepelcrème van $7.
Het begon allemaal met deze post op Reddit, waarin een Reddit-gebruikster een lofzang afsteekt over de Lansinoh HPA Lanolin Tube, die ze als lippenbalsem gebruikte. Er is immers niets zo fijn als dat éne lipsproduct vinden die je lippen knap door deze gure dagen heen helpt. De Reddit-gebruikster schrijft:
'I searched "lip balm" earlier this week looking for something for my chronically chapped, aging lips. I had tried a lot of the suggestions and read countless threads and Amazon reviews. One thing that a lot of people kept suggesting is Lansinoh. It is also known as "Nipple Cream" in the breastfeeding world. Well, today at the market, I grabbed a tube. It wasn't cheap at almost $8, but the tube should last me a decade at minimum. I am not kidding you, I have NEVER put something this smooth on my lips. I used the tiniest of tiny amount of the product and, an hour and a half later, it feels like I just put it on. I think I've found my new favorite product!!!'.
Juist, dat maakt je toch wel nieuwsgierig. Zeker als je wat reacties eronder leest, van mensen die al even enthousiast over het zeer betaalbare product zijn. Zo schrijft één gebruiker:
'I love Lansinoh for my lips. Funny thing is that I never used it while breastfeeding. I found a full tube a couple of months ago and it's the best. During the day I use a lipliner to line and fill in my lips, and then I layer the nipple cream over it. I get so many compliments.'
Een ander laat weten:
'Ever since I bought Lansinoh nipple cream, it's the only thing that I ever use on my lips! I threw out all my old Chapstick and lip creams. It's so much better than Vaseline because it actually penetrates your skin and moisturizes whereas Vasoline just sits on top of the skin.'
De reden waarom Lansinoh wellicht zo goed voor je lippen is? Er zit veel lanoline in, een type vet dat voorkomt in de wol van schapen en in verschillende beautyproducten wordt gebruikt. Het is zo'n fijn ingrediënt omdat het een complex mengsel van lipiden bevat, die ook voorkomen in de hoornlaag van onze huid. Het wordt dus erg goed opgenomen én beschermt daarna ook nog eens de huid omdat het voor een barrière zorgt, wat een must is tijdens de koude dagen.
Pas wel op, want deze ingrediënten kunnen wel voor een allergische reactie bij sommigen zorgen... Wij raden dan ook aan om in plaats van lippenbalsem voor pure kokosolie te gaan.
