Het is officieel: de aanstaande Gilmore Girls-revival van Netflix heeft nu ook Lorelai's beste vriendin Sookie terug. Actrice Melissa McCarthy kondigde in de Ellen DeGeneres show aan dat ze slechts een paar uur voordat het filmen van de revival startte, nog een deal sloot met de maker van de show, Amy Sherman-Palladino.
‘[Gilmore Girls] is a show, which was near and dear to my heart for four years, and we could not get those schedules to work,’ verklaart ze de last-minute actie. ‘And there was a whole thing. And then I was gonna be out of the country and blah, blah, blah. And literally about an hour and half ago we figured out that I'm gonna go back and do it and I am so excited. And they are gonna be amazing.’
Eerder tweette McCarthy nog teleurgesteld dat ze niet zou zijn gevraagd voor de nieuwe mini-serie. Waarop Sherman-Palladino zou hebben gereageerd wel degelijk te hebben geprobeerd Sookie terug te krijgen, maar dat ze steeds te horen kreeg dat het tijdschema-technisch niet haalbaar was. Hoe dan ook: ZE IS ERBIJ. En dat is maar goed ook. Want geef toe: wat is Gilmore Girls nou zonder Sookie St. James?!
