Het is inmiddels bijna precies een jaar geleden dat Angelina Jolie en Brad Pitt besloten te scheiden en ons geloof in de liefde een flinke deuk opliep. Op 19 september 2016 werden de scheidingspapieren officieel ingediend; gisteren kwam de nieuwe People uit, waarin Angelina Jolie haar verhaal doet over het afgelopen jaar. 'I have had my ups and downs. I guess I am a little bit stronger [for it],' zegt ze erover.
Verder weidt ze uit over haar kinderen (Maddox, 16; Pax, 13; Zahara, 12; Shiloh, 11; Knox en Vivienne, 9) die ze het afgelopen jaar het belangrijkst vond. Jolie:
'We all have our difficult times, but as a mother you also have a responsibility first and foremost towards the kids. They are going through their formative years and everything else comes second to that.'
Ze vervolgt:
'Everything will be around the children. I haven't worked for over a year now because they needed me home. Everything was just stopped. I'm really sitting and talking with them because everything affects them. Every location, every type of project, I'm going to have to adjust it to however much they can handle.'
De Jolie-Pitt-kinderen, die afgelopen weekend met Angelina op de foto gingen op het Toronto Film Festival, lijken zich de laatste tijd comfortabeler te voelen op openbare gelegenheden. Jolie:
'I think they're itching to get out in the world again. We've all been a bit in lockdown and going through some things. I think it would be good to get out there and play together.'
Over het gerucht van een mogelijke reünie tussen Pitt en Jolie? Niks. Och ja; de tijd zal het leren.
