Blake Lively verbreedt haar horizon als het op filmrollen aankomt. Speelde ze al een prachtrol in The Age of Adaline (serieus, gaat dat zien, want: ook met Michiel Huisman) dit keer komt haar moeilijkste rol ooit uit. Blake speelt in All I See Is You namelijk een vrouw die blind is.
All I See Is You gaat over Gina (Blake Lively) die haar zicht als kind is verloren tijdens een auto-ongeluk, waarbij haar ouders om het leven kwamen. Ze is getrouwd met James (Jason Clarke), die eigenlijk altijd dient als haar ogen, totdat ze een operatie ondergaat waarmee ze haar zicht weer terugkrijgt in één oog. Dit, samen met de transformatie die ze ondergaat tot de Blake die wij kennen, zorgen ervoor dat James zich in de relatie ongemakkelijk en bedreigd gaat voelen.
De film is nét in première gegaan tijdens het Toronto International Film Festival - Blake Lively en haa ongetwijfeld waanzinnige rodeloperjurk konden er niet bij zijn omdat ze hoogzwanger thuis zit -, en - yikes - een aantal mensen liepen weg uit de zaal (maar dit kan ook zijn omdat de prent werd aangekondigd als thriller en het dat niet echt bleek te zijn). All I See Is Youmoet nog een officiële releasedatum krijgen, maar de recensies zijn al wel binnen. En ze zijn helaas best hard (arme Blake). Op een rij wat er zoal voor gemeens werd gezegd (maar we willen de film desondanks toch wel graag zien):
1. 'Lively languishes here. Her natural radiance is sorely missing and, frankly, she doesn't have the dramatic chops to pull off the required emotional transformation. It's a toss-up as to whether she and Clarke share a tepid chemistry because of the nature of their roles or because they're miserable in the roles. Gina is better off without him — while the actress is better off working on other kinds of projects. Here's hoping she sees the light soon.' —Us Weekly
2. 'Take away Forster's hard-working visual style, and what All I See Is Youessentially presents is a standard relationship drama, with two generic, privileged people at its heart who don't become any more striking even as the tensions between the two gradually reach a breaking point.' —The Playlist

But Lively doesn't do much to stretch her limited range, while Clarke shows none of the dangerous edge that has made him a distinctive screen presence in other movies. 'When the inevitable twist comes during the film's final stretch it doesn't come as a shock (Toronto did after all bill All I See Is You as a thriller), but it does feel extremely rushed given the languid pacing of all that came before.
