Zojuist werden in Amerika de genomineerden voor de Emmy Awards – de belangrijkste televisie-/serieprijzen van het jaar – bekendgemaakt.
Opvallend zijn de 11 nominaties voor dramaserie This Is Us, een van de grootste hits van het afgelopen televisieseizoen. Acteurs Sterling K. Brown en Milo Ventimiglia zullen het tegen elkaar opnemen in de categorie 'beste mannelijke hoofdrol' en de serie is ook in de race als beste dramaserie.
In die laatste categorie werd ook Netflix' Stranger Things genomineerd, wat verrassend is, net als de nominatie voor Shannon Purser (Barb) #JusticeForBarb. Ook The Crown, Westworld, Better Call Saul, House of Cards en The Handmaid's Tale maken kans op beste drama.
Zoals verwacht werden Reese Witherspoon en Nicole Kidman genomineerd voor miniserie Big Little Lies, net als Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley en (jawel) Alexander Skarsgård.
