Leonardo heeft tijdens de Golden Globes de award voor Beste Acteur in zijn nieuwe film The Revenant mee naar huis genomen (en terecht!).
Om dat te vieren doken we maar eens in de archieven en vonden deze geweldige throwback-video van de inmiddels 41-jarige rokkenjager. Het is 1993 en een 19-jarige Leonardo DiCaprio doet promotie voor zijn fantastische filmrol in What's Eating Gilbert Grape (toen had-ie al een Oscar moeten winnen als je het ons vraagt).
Wanneer de interviewer 'm vraagt hoe het is om een heuse heartthrob voor tieners te zijn reageert Leo beschaamd en cooltjes met:
'I don't know about that teen thing, I think it's good for publicity but it's almost like they're not actors, they portray them as sort of a piece of meat, like here's the new cute thing, take a look at him and go, "ooh, ah!" I didn't dig that. I want to do characters which I can really get into and really act and make things reality and not something contrived…You know, I had some teen following… but I don't really have that anymore, it's sort of gone, it's sort of diminished— thank God.'
