Sports Illustrated-model Ashley Graham was gisteren te gast bij The Ellen DeGeneres Show en pleitte daar voor een nieuwe naam voor plus-size modellen. Een betere term volgens haar? 'Curvasexalicious'. Zo, da's een hele mond vol. Graham vertelt in de talkshow:

'I like to call it, like, curvasexalicious.'

Verder vertelt het 'curvasexalicious' model dat het nog steeds de foute kant op gaat qua modellenmaten:

'There's a double 0 now. It's a little scary on both spectrums of weight. I'm not a promoter of anorexia. I'm not a promoter of obesity. I think we have to promote women to be healthy at every size as long as they're getting off the couch and moving their body.'

Maar, het was niet altijd makkelijk voor Ashley Graham om haar figuur te omarmen. Zeker niet als model:

'Words have power, and when someone's telling you, 'You're too pretty, you're too ugly, you're too fat, you're too skinny' constantly - and I've been doing this for 16 years now - you start to believe it. And you start to think that every word that someone says, that it's true. The moment that I realized, You know what? I don't have to fit into a certain standard, I don't have to be a certain kind of woman, I have to be my own woman, the one my mother created me to be, and that's when my confidence came out.'

Amen:
