Gisteravond werden voor de vierde keer de iHeart Radio Music Awards uitgereikt, prijzen die door stemmen van radioluisteraars aan artiesten worden toegekend. Maar ook de verkoop van platen en het aantal searches op namen van artiesten in apps zoals Shazam dragen bij aan de winst.
De grote winnaar dit jaar? Justin Timberlake. De 36-jarige zanger won de award voor Best Song met I Can't Stop The Feeling en richtte zich in zijn dankspeech tot de LHBTQ-jeugd en op inclusion.
'Anyone that is treating you unkindly and it's only because they are afraid or they were taught to be afraid of how important you are,' aldus Justin. 'Because being different means you make the difference, so f--- 'em.'

Een andere grote winnaar was dj-duo The Chainsmokers voor beste nieuwe artiest en beste dancenummer. The Chainsmokers trad ook op met de nummers Paris en Something Just Like This, samen met Chris Martin van Coldplay. Net als Bruno Mars, Shawn Mendes en rapper Big Sean, die allemaal het podium opklommen.
