Lang, lang geleden was Leonardo DiCaprio in de filmindustrie nog maar een tiener die net kwam kijken. Zoals toen hij naast Johnny Depp speelde in What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993), toen de 19-jarige Leo zich kapot werkte om zich maar te bewijzen (dus doe niet zo flauw, Academy, en geef 'm die Oscar toch).

Tijdens het Santa Barbara International Film Festival sprak Johnny Depp over hoe 't was om destijds met Leonardo DiCaprio te werken - een Leo die nog helemaal into videospelletjes was en - zoals 't klinkt - (nog) heel erg tegen Johnny Depp opkeek.
'It was a hard time for me, that film, for some reason. I don't know why. I tortured him. I really did. He was always talking about these videos games, you know? I told you it was kind of a dark period. No, I will not give you a drag of my cigarette while you hide from your mother again, Leo.'
Vervolgens prijst Depp juist de enorme ambitie van Leo en hoe volhardend hij altijd is gebleven:
'I'd say the absolute truth is that I respect Leo a lot. He worked really hard on that film and spent a lot of time researching. He came to set and he was ready to work hard and all his ducks were in a row.'
