‘So overwhelmed with every happy emotion right now!’ schreef ze op haar Instagram over deze upgrade. ‘I don't even know how to be in my own body! It still feels so insane the day is finally here!’

3. Ze groeide op in een LGBTQ-familie,
met een gay vader en een lesbische moeder, die elkaar vonden via een oproep in de krant, vlak voordat haar vader met zijn vriend trouwde. ‘Ever since my mum was a kid, she wanted to be a mum. So in Denmark in 1992, there was this newsletter for the whole LGBTQ community and my mum put an ad in there, saying, “I want to bring a child into this world, does anyone want to be a part of that?” She got a few replies and the first one ended up being my dad.’
4. Ze werd als kind niet gepest, maar wel was wel eens slachtoffer van pesterijen op social media.
‘It comes from a place I don't understand. What is hard about the Internet and what is hard about social media is I can't talk but when you get the opportunity to have a platform, I feel like it's your obligation to use it. So telling my family's story, I can give back to having such an amazing childhood.’
5. Ze komt uit Denemarken, wat opgroeien een stuk gemakkelijker maakte.
‘[It] has shielded me from a lot of the hate that still exists in other parts of the world,’ vertelde ze aan i-D. ‘Denmark is very progressive in the fight for LGBTQ rights, so growing up in a very accepting country has been a blessing. We're not perfect people by any means, but I do appreciate the openness that the Danish have about this particular issue.’
6. Ze is een activiste voor LGBTQ-acceptatie.
‘I hope I can help raise awareness about how amazing and loving parents members of the LGBTQ community can be.’ Aldus Josephine.
