Toen Carrie Fisher net voor de feestdagen overleed en haar moeder Debbie Reynolds een dag later, leefde de hele wereld mee de familie van de twee, en dan met name met Billie Lourd, die haar oma en moeder plots moest missen.
De 24-jarige, die zelf bekend is van de populairse serie Scream Queens, hield zich - begrijpelijk - stil na het tragische verlies, maar heeft nu voor het eerst een statement gegeven, waarin ze alle fans bedankt voor de steun die ze heeft gekregen:

'Receiving all of your prayers and kind words over the past week has given me strength during a time I thought strength could not exist. There are no words to express how much I will miss my Abadaba and my one and only Momby. Your love and support means the world to me.'
Berichten als 'blijf sterk' en 'ik hou van je' overladen momenteel Billie Lourds social media, en ook mensen dichterbij huis steken Billie een hart onder de riem. Zo liet haar stiefvader Bruce Bozzi vorige week weten:
'It's an honor to be your Stepfather. This day, your NYU grad day we had so much fun! Yankee Stadium your mom and I laughed our asses off, as she kept one fantastic line coming after the other - no less when we all fell asleep the night before in the smaller ceremony because it was so boring. Every time Carrie looked at me she said " how are you still awake"! Your grandmother with our sweet Ava was the kindest most loving. So... as Carrie said to me years ago " I'm a good stepmother" I promise I will always be & the strength of these women live so vibrantly in you. I've been lucky enough to see this for a decade! Many decades to come.....heaven just got a shit load more fun!!!! I love you @praisethelourd xo Bru.'
Billies oom en Carries broer liet vorige week aan E! News weten over Billie:
'To have to lose the girls, it's just horrible. She's got their genes, but you can't even imagine. I can't imagine being 24 and having to do this -and I'm 59.'
