Kanye, Kanye.
Gisteren maakte hij bekend tijdens New York Fashion Week te showen en leek er nog niets aan de hand. Maar hij bleek weer eens voor eigen God te hebben gespeeld, en een eigen plek op het fashionweekschema te hebben geclaimd zónder te overleggen met de organisatie van New York Fashion Week zelf. En dat schiet in het verkeerde keelgat, want de organisatie doet er alles aan om iedere ontwerper een tijdsslot te geven dat niet overlapt met een ander – een flinke klus, als je met meer dan 300 merken van doen hebt.
En dus wordt Kanye nu op de vingers getikt. Steven Kolb, CEO van Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), zegt in een statement aan WWD:
'Once again, CFDA was not approached or consulted about the possibility of Kanye West showing on the official New York Fashion Week schedule. As the scheduler of the week, the CFDA works with more than 300 brands to identify appropriate times for them to show their collections and avoid scheduling conflicts. Not going through the proper channels is disruptive to the whole week and unfair to designers who have secured spots through the formal procedure.'
De consequentie:
'This bad behavior is not acceptable to the CFDA and should not be tolerated by the industry. Because of this, the CFDA will not list Kanye West on the official schedule.'
Een official schedule waar Kanye vanaf het begin dus al niet aan deelnam, maar toch – een non-maatregel is het niet, want het feit dat de organisatie zich (actief) uitspreekt tegen zijn gedrag, is toch niet zo fraai voor 'm, en een teken dat Kanye's gedrag niet zomaar door de vingers wordt gezien.
