Hear hear Shanina! Een paar maanden nadat het debuut van Kendall Jenner en Gigi Hadid als Victoria's Secret Angels aardig wat kritiek kreeg, neemt nu mede-Victoria's Secret-ster Shanina Shaik het voor Kendall en Gigi op.
Ze reageert op de kritieken dat Gigi en Kendall alleen maar in de show mochten lopen vanwege hun social media-aanwezigheid en celebrity-status. De 24-jarige Shanina weet echter dat de meiden enorm hard hebben gewerkt voor hun rol in de beroemde lingerieshow:
'I know them personally. Attachment sometimes from the outside in can help, but they do work really hard.'
Vooral Gigi wilde volgens Shanina niets liever dan lopen voor Victoria's Secret, en deed jarenlang auditie zonder succes:
'Gigi's been modeling since she was a young kid and I think people forget that. Gigi had to try out a few times before she got in. They did an amazing job and they looked great and they did amazing for the show. They have amazing bodies and they fit the criteria for Victoria's Secret.'
Daarnaast vonden Kendall en Gigi het zelf ook helemaal niet vanzelfsprekend dat ze afgelopen jaar mee mochten lopen:
'They also have dreams and goals they want to achieve and they're very humble and they're very appreciative of everything great that happens to them. I see that myself.' Aldus Shanina.
'Seeing them being new to Victoria's Secret, I saw myself four years ago. I had like Adriana [Lima] and Miranda [Kerr] giving me advice at that time so I just said, 'You know what, enjoy the moment.'
