De meeste fan theorieën over populaire tv-series en films zijn, op z'n zachtst gezegd, idioot. Het idee bijvoorbeeld dat Jack uit Titanic eigenlijk een tijdreiziger die moet voorkomen dat Rose zelfmoord pleegt. Of dat Sandy uit Grease stiekem de hele film lang dood is.
Meestal komen de vergezochte theorieën van geobsedeerde fans, niet van de cast. Dit keer is het Sarah Jessica Parker, ofwel Carrie Bradshaw ZELF, die met de meest bizarre Sex and the City theorie op de proppen komt.
In een recente podcast zei de actrice dat ze zich eigenlijk al jaren afvraagt of Carrie's vriendinnen, Miranda, Charlotte en Samantha, wel echt zijn:
"We don't know if any of the things that happened are real because she's just writing a column every week...what we are seeing isn't necessarily what happened in New York City", aldus SJP tegen Nerdist.
Als in, Carrie Bradshaw, de vrouw die we allemaal wilden zijn, was eigenlijk een eenzame thirtysomething met denkbeeldige vriendinnen. Say what?!
SJP: "I used to wonder if Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda were real. Because they're such perfectly archetypal characters. So you're writing a column about sexual politics and observations of female/male primarily, heterosexual relationships—so you're picking one type. You're saying 'this type is this and this,' and then you complicate it more, like any good writer does. So, I'm not entirely sure they are real."
