Miley Cyrus dropte donderdag haar nieuwe album Younger Now. Een plaat die volgens de zangeres vol staat met nummers over beau Liam Hemsworth (en één over Hillary Clinton). Maar het lijkt erop dat Miley zich ook heeft laten inspireren door minstens één ex: Stella Maxwell.
Onze collega bij ELLE.com fileerde She's Not Him – het een na laatste nummer op het album – en constateerde dat het waarschijnlijk over het moment was waarop Miley realiseerde dat ze nog gevoelens had voor Liam, ook al had ze op dat moment een relatie met Stella. Het Victoria's Secret model was de eerste vrouw waarmee de zangeres publiekelijk werd gesignaleerd en de laatste persoon met wie ze een relatie had voordat ze terugging naar ex, en inmiddels verloofde, Liam. En dat was geen toeval, blijkt nu.
Op She's Not Him zingt Miley over een meisje dat haar leven veranderde. 'You gave me things, you can't buy back with money, You changed my life, You've been my world, There's no other girl that looks like ya, darling.' Maar zelfs al waren ze samen in 'outer space' geweest, het meisje was nog steeds niet 'hem'. 'No matter what you say, No matter what you do, I just can't fall in love with you.'
Wellicht dat Miley daarom nooit een labeltje op haar relatie met Stella wilde plakken. In oktober 2015 vertelde ze onze collega's van ELLE UK het volgende:
'Stella's awesome, but as soon as you hang out with someone, you get labelled as in a relationship. And I'm like, you can't just assume that everyone I'm sitting at dinner with is a date. It'd be like we're on a date right now.Then you break up and it's everywhere. And it's like, 'They've moved on,' but actually often it's all good. Me and Liam are still so close and we love each other, and they make it like there is negativity."
